Meet Katie Hizen, Marketing Strategist
We are excited to share that Katie Hizen has joined the Shaffer Creative team as Marketing Strategist. Katie is known for everything from big-picture strategic and creative thinking to managing the small details of each project she touches. Her key strength — creative writing with the ability to develop quality content with journalistic deadline speed — makes her a critical asset to any project, from social media posts to competitive pursuit submittals.
With a foundation in public relations, the majority of her experience comes from heading an in-house marketing department at a commercial architecture firm for more than a decade. While leading the department, she oversaw several generations of the company’s website, as well as led proposal coordination efforts. Katie has also overseen collateral production and news release distribution, and she has offered tradeshow support.

In addition to handling day-to-day marketing responsibilities, Katie has also managed or participated in highly specialized projects. She assisted a city official with a direct mail campaign, which included developing and designing the tri-fold brochures, and ensuring the information reached those citizens affected by the pending vote. Katie also played an important role in compiling a company’s 25-year anniversary book. This project spanned months and involved not only creating content for the book but coordinating photoshoots across departments and facilities.
Prior to joining Shaffer Creative, she worked 12 years with the same commercial architecture firm and prior to that was an account executive at a public relations firm specializing in the healthcare technology sector. Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University.
